(O) I love when Jesus tells us parables to help us understand that serving isn't about what you have, but the heart and spirit in which you give. Yesterday I told a short story to a church congregation in which I was presenting a message through puppets, a story of a Missionary woman who lived in Madagascar that had come to a nearby village to have bible study. When she entered the house in which the bible study would take place the only person there was an elderly lady. She was a bit discouraged that no one else had come, but she continued the bible study anyway. The elderly lady interrupted and asked if she could answer a question. She told the lady that she wanted to help others but she was poor and didn't' have anything. All she had was the little bit of meal in her home and that all she could share. She wanted to know if what she had counted for anything. The bible study leader began to smile and read to her today's passage of scripture. Isn't it wonderful that what we consider little, in the eyes of Jesus, is huge!
(A) I have a puppet ministry. I used to think that the ministry I had wasn't very big at all until yesterday. As I presented a message entitled, "God Wants You" 6 young people gave their lives to Jesus Christ after the message. The day before, I was thinking that it was time to let this ministry go. Sometimes you can feel inadequate...but God spoke to my heart right through those young people. That what I felt that seemed very small was something that helped to win the hearts of those children to Christ. A long time ago I asked God to use me....and he gave me a puppet.....now I use a puppet to teach others that God want's to use them. Yesterday, he restored my soul! To God Be the Glory!
(P) Father, most wise God and Savior....thank you for reminding us today that you want to use us, just the way we are, and with what we have. Thank you for helping us realize that it's not about our financial abundance, but the abundance of the heart is what really matters. That no matter what we have, big or small, that it all makes a difference in your Kingdom! Help us to keep these words at the forefront of our minds and hearts. In Jesus Name, Amen!
